Big Ang Health Update: Fans Show Their Support as 'Mob Wives' Star Continues Fight Against Cancer
Following the announcement that Angela "Big Ang" Raiola's cancer has returned, the reality star's sister, Janine Detore, reported recently that she is in need of financial assistance as she continues to battle lung and brain cancer at stage four.
VH1 said on Tuesday that Detore has given updates about the 55-year-old actress. She is reportedly "in the emergency room with labored breathing and severe pain." Since Big Ang's cancer is at the later stages already, it is expected that she will be in a lot of pain.
Detore added that Big Ang was unresponsive to her most recent chemotherapy, which has led the family to seek other alternatives. A GoFundMe page has been created for the reality star, as the family hopes to get help from the public.
To help ease her pain, the "Mob Wives" star and her family have decided to go for alternative medicine, specifically cannabis oil, as the substance is known to at least lessen pain. Big Ang has also been advised to undergo immunotherapy, but there is no update if she has started to undergo the process.
Since Feb. 2, Big Ang's GoFundMe page titled "The Big Battle" has recorded over $38,000 to help the reality star as she fights for her life. Detore said earlier that the family is hoping to raise $25,000 for the purchase of cannabis oil. Genuine cannabis oil often comes with a fat price tag and is also known to help treat stress and anxiety.
When Big Ang's cancer returned, she immediately started chemotherapy early last month. However, after almost a month of treatment, the doctors informed the family that one tumor grew larger, while the other tumors in her brain saw no changes at all. To help Big Ang undergo immunotherapy without being in severe pain, cannabis oil will be used.
On Thursday, the reality star took to Twitter and informed her fans that she is back home resting. She also reminded them to "watch and tweet w my girls!"
The future is unclear for Big Ang, but with her optimistic attitude and her family and friends' support, she seems ready to fight and win the biggest battle in her life.
