Blizzard Releases New 'Hearthstone' Hero for Halloween Event

"Hearthstone" will be giving away a new hero for free this Halloween season.

Joining the fray is warlock Nemsy Necrofizzle, which can be claimed for free beginning Oct. 17. Reports note that the pint-sized gal can be retrieved at any Fireside Gathering Tavern even if the Hallow's End event is already over.

Fans who recognize Nemsy know that this is not the first time she was introduced in the game. The tiny warlock has already appeared on the Bog Creeper card that was part of the Whispers of the Old Gods expansion set.

Those who want to get their hands on Nemsy simply need to join a Fireside Brawl at the Fireside Gathering Taverns, which are a part of the card game's Halloween event. These are real-life locations that encourage players from different players to meet up and interact.

"Anyone can host a Hallow's End Fireside Gathering — head on over to FiresideGatherings.com and create an event today! Make sure to be specific with the details you submit so that local Hearthstone players can find your tavern. Once submitted, we'll review your event and let you know if it has been approved," Blizzard said in a press release.

While news of a free new character is good, Kotaku points out that getting Nemsy is not as easy as it seems. Players have even expressed their disappointment over the game's flawed plan because finding a nearby Fireside Gathering Tavern is difficult. Those who want to start a Tavern is required to gather a group made up of three individuals to play the game in one certain place.

The media outlet also clarified that Fireside Gathering meet-ups and Fireside Gathering Tavern meet-ups may seem similar but they are actually different in scope. One ends with a new hero portrait while the other does not. Since many players are confused with the two meet-ups, there is a chance some will attend a non-Tavern Fireside Gathering and go home empty handed. This is currently one of the issues players want Blizzard to address soon.
