Boys Poison Teacher Allegedly in Brooklyn; 2 Fourth Graders Arrested for Slipping Rat Poison Into Water
Boys poisoned their teacher allegedly at a Brooklyn elementary school Monday, and the two fourth graders were arrested Tuesday in connection with the incident. The 9-year-old and 12-year-old suspects put rat poison in her water, and she began to feel sick and nauseous the next day as a result.
The boys who allegedly poisoned their 62-year-old teacher attend P.S. 315 in the Flatbush section of Brooklyn. Their motive was unknown, but their involvement in the incident was revealed when fellow students told administrators that they had seen them slip something into the teacher's drink. When she drank it she began to feel sick the next day.
"It's poison," Derrel Williams, a parent at the school, told CBS New York. "It could be given to kids as well. It's a dangerous situation not to be taken lightly."

The two fourth-grade boys were arrested as juveniles and charged with attempted assault, reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon. Fortunately, their teacher was treated by a doctor and is now doing fine, the NYPD told CNN.
The Department of Education released a statement Wednesday addressing the incident.
"We are greatly relieved that the teacher is recovering and we continue to closely monitor this situation. Ensuring the safety of our entire schools community is our priority, and while this matter is still under investigation, we will take swift and appropriate action," the statement read.
Apparently this could be the second time students have tried to poison teachers at the school. One third-grade teacher who requested to remain anonymous said she believes she was almost poisoned when she saw her water had turned grayish and cloudy. At the time she notified administrators, who did not take action.
