Canon EOS M6 Release Date, Specs, Price News: Mirrorless Digital Camera with External EVF Arriving in April
Canon has added a new mirrorless digital camera to its EOS M series — the EOS M6. It is designed for photography enthusiasts who have a bit more experience in the field and demand more premium performance than what is typically available in the consumer market. The newly introduced camera also comes optional with an external electronic view finder (EVF).
"The new Canon EOS M6 Camera and optional EVF-DC2 are ideal for expert and advanced amateur photographers looking for an easy, take-anywhere camera as well as a great choice for passionate image creators wanting to step-up to produce high-quality images and videos that are easily shareable," said Yuichi Ishizuka, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Canon U.S.A. Inc.
The Canon EOS M6 features a 24.2-megapixel (MP) APS-C CMOS image sensor that operates alongside DIGIC 7, Canon's most advanced image processor, to deliver clear, sharp and high-resolution images even when used in low-light shooting conditions. It is equipped with Dual Pixel CMOS autofocus (AF) with phase-detection for superfast performance which ensures that photographers won't miss the shots.
The mirrorless digital camera comes with an ISO range of 100–25600, five-axis Image Stabilization (IS) and high-speed continuous shooting with up to seven frames per second (fps). When the AF Lock is activated, the EOS M6 can shoot up to 9 fps. The camera also has the ability to record full high-definition (HD) videos.
The Canon EOS M6 has a compact body which means it is portable enough to be brought along inside one's bag. For composing and framing images, there is a 3-inch LCD touchscreen display that can tilt up to 180 degrees and 45 degrees down which means it can be used for capturing selfies. The camera also features intuitive and easy-to-access dials and controls that can be customized according to the user's preferences.
Captured images and videos can be easily transferred and shared to family and friends as the Canon EOS M6 comes with Wi-Fi, near-field communication (NFC) and Bluetooth connectivity.
Canon's new mirrorless digital camera is compatible with the entire lineup of Canon EF, EF-S and EF-M interchangeable lenses.
The Canon EOS M6 will be released in April but is available for preorder at the Canon Store for $899.99. The camera kit comes with the EF-M 15–45mm f/3.5–6.3 IS STM lens. Meanwhile, the camera body can be purchased for $779.99.
