'Celebrity Apprentice' 2015: Premiere Episode 'May The Gods of Good Pies Be With Us' Recap
"Celebrity Apprentice" is back, and this year's cast are set to prove themselves as they battle it out for charity while trying not to get fired by Donald Trump.
The cast was split into two teams. The women's team contains Brandi Glanville (Real Housewives of Beverly Hills), Kenya Moore (Real Housewives of Atlanta), talk show host Leeza Gibbons, Kate Gosselin (Kate Plus Eight), former Olympic snowboarder Jamie Anderson, actress Vivica A. Fox, Olympic gold medalist Shawn Johnson, and Keisha Knight Pulliam (The Cosby Show), who was tasked as project manager for the first challenge.
Meanwhile, the men's team has Geraldo Rivera, Ian Ziering (90210), Kevin Jonas of the Jonas Brothers, Lorenzo Lamas, former MLB player Johnny Damon, Sig Hansen, comedian Gilbert Gottfried, and Terrell Owens. Geraldo volunteers to be project manager. He touts his own accomplishments, saying "Once you've survived Bora Bora, once you've survived Somalia, I think the task will not be so daunting."
The first task is to make and sell pies at Pie Face, and each team must make one savory and one sweet pie. The teams go to two separate rooms to strategize and think of a team name.
At the women's team, Brandi and Kenya argue over the name. Brandi wants the team to be called Team Gold, while Kenya suggests Team Infinity. Kenya's suggestion wins. The men's team is named Team Vortex, which was suggested by Geraldo.
At Team Infinity, Brandi and Sean are given social media detail to draw people into the store, while Kate and Jamie are relegated to kitchen duty.
At Team Vortex, there is tension between Geraldo and Kevin. Kevin is complaining that Geraldo is not utilizing him enough, since he has a lot of Twitter followers who he can invite to the event. Instead, he's stuck in the kitchen. Geraldo snaps, "Kevin, what is it you do again?" before telling him to go to the kitchen and make some pies. In the kitchen, Sig gets into a spot of trouble and burns all the pie crusts.
Team Vortex gets a visit from Ivanka Trump, and Sig gushes about how beautiful she is. Later, Ivanka admits that she is a huge 90210 fan and wants to get more info from Ian.
"I'm going to start pummeling him with questions about Dylan and Brenda and Kelly … I don't think I ever missed an episode of the show." Ivanka said.
On the day of the challenge, Kenya calls Keisha out for not asking Bill Cosby for a donation. Vivica is also annoyed that Keisha chooses to work the cash registers. On the men's team, there is a long line out the door, and Chef Buddy from Cake Boss comes over to taste both team's culinary creations. He says that Lorenzo's savory pie lacks salt, while the sweet pie has a burned crust. Chef Buddy liked Team Infinity's pie a bit better, and though he said their savory pie was confusing, the sweet pie was really good.
In the end, Team Vortex got more donations and Team Infinity got called to the boardroom. Keisha said that she was not comfortable asking Bill Cosby for money since they haven't talked in years.
Keisha brings Kate and Jamie to the board room with her since they were not able to bring in donations. But Ivanka, Donald, and Piers disagree and said that even though it was a fund raising challenge, the two contributed the most by making the pies. In the end, Keisha was fired.
"Celebrity Apprentice" airs on Mondays at 8/7c on NBC.
