Cell Phone Jammer Admits to Disrupting Calls on Public Bus
A Philadelphia resident has admitted to cell phone jamming while riding the public bus in order to keep the environment more peaceful.
"I guess I'm taking the law into my own hands, and quite frankly, I'm proud of it," said Eric, the man responsible for the jams to NBC 10 in a recent interview.
Eric believes that people talking on their cell phones when riding public transportation such as trains and busses is extremely irritating and rude. In order to correct the disruption he purchased a cell phone jammer online and began using it on the bus to disrupt other passengers' phone calls.
One of his fellow riders happened to be an employee for NBC 10. The station ended up catching Eric in his jamming by using another gadget.
Upon the station's discovery, it decided to check with the FCC about Eric's jammer and found that it was not exactly legal for him to have and operate this device.
Eric was also asked by the network what he would do if someone on the bus actually had an emergency and needed to use their cell phone.
"Well, of course if there were such a situation on the bus, I imagine I would be right in the middle of it," he said. "And I would imagine that would be very different situation of course."
Eric's train of thought is not that farfetched since some people take their cell phone experience to a whole other level while riding public transportation. A lady was once thrown off of a train after having a conversation on her phone for 16 hours non-stop.
Eric confessed that having this jammer could put him in jail so he will destroy it in the near future in order to avoid trouble with the law.
