Charlize Theron Brunette Buzz Cut: Photos of New Hair Cut Spark Debate on Natural Hair Color

Charlize Theron has been seen with a brunette buzz cut, stunning her fans, who are more used to seeing her with her trademark blonde hair.

Theron's new hair cut has been styled for her new role in her upcoming film "Mad Max: Fury Road."

Due to the shortness of her new hair and the color of the roots, many are now speculating that she has naturally dark brunette hair rather than what most fans formerly believed was blonde.

The 37 year old's new hair was on show in public as she enjoyed lunch with her mother, Gerda in her native South Africa. They were eating at the Cafe Caprice in Cape Town, South Africa.

However, despite her drastic new look fans easily recognized her and she happily posed for some photos as a number of fans passed by requesting some snaps with the Hollywood actress.

The new brunette hair is part of her new look to play Furiosa in the new Mad Max movie, which is to be the fourth film in the hard core action series. Actor Tom Hardy will play the famous role previously filled by Mel Gibson.

Theron has recently said: "I feel like the original Mad Max created such a vivid world, that to go back and re-imagine it and kind of replay in that sandbox sounds like fun to me. George [Miller] really created a female character that I've never read anything like this. I mean, I'm scared! I'm very excited about it; I'm dying! It's been three years; it's time to skin this cat already!"

Meanwhile the photos of Theron's new hair have sparked discussion among fans as to the actress' real hair color.

One blogger named Juniper has written, "I actually think her hair here is dyed. I doubt her normal hair color is what we usually see- the obviously blond color, but I think it's a lighter shade than this. i remember seeing pictures of her as a young kid and she was blond."

Another called Claire has said, "The cropped look is dyed darker and the blonde she usually has is lighter than her natural color. Google her yearbook picture and you'll see her natural light brown hair color."
