Chelsea Transfer News, Rumors for January 2015: Looking to Sell Andre Schurrle, German Forward Wants to Stay

With a £19 million offer for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane, Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is looking to let go of Andre Schurrle to make room. However, the German forward is intent on staying with the team despite plans to sell him.

The 24-year old player has been sidelined due to an infection and has only seen action four times in the Premiere League during the season. His performance so far is being criticized by Mourihno, thus his decision to sell him to other clubs to free up space.

However, there is speculation that Mourinho only intends to motivate Schurrle into improving and has no real intention to sell him.

"I think it's almost a good sign that Mourinho keeps talking about him, saying he needs to play better, because as long as Mourinho says these things about you, you think you have a good chance," Raphael Honigstein, a German journalist, stated.

"Remember how he always used to criticize Eden Hazard? I think it's when it goes very quiet, that's when you know you're on your way out. So I still think he's got a great future and if he gets fit, and performs like he did at the World Cup where he played at the highest level, then he can still grow as a player," he added.

Still, it's uncertain what Mourinho's plans for Schurrle are as the Chelsea boss isn't one to let weakness creep into his squad, especially considering how talented his squad is right now.

Any sign that his squad is faltering and he is more than willing to remake his team during the season.
