Chevrolet Volt 2016 Hybrid Car Coming This December

The new Chevrolet Volt 2016 is still due to be out by December, but even now, the hybrid car has been gaining good reviews for its improvements from the original model.

The Chevrolet Volt 2016 now has a lot of improvements compared with its predecessor. Reviews say the new Chevy Volt sets itself apart from other electric vehicles because it can also run on a gas-powered generator, according to the Tech Times.

One of the major improvements in the second-gen Chevy Volt is the increased electric range. While the 2011 Volt's range is 35 miles and the 2013 Volt has a 38-mile range, the latest Volt is expected to have a 40-mile range, the Gospel Herald reports.

"It runs on an electric charge and generates additional electric power through a gas-powered generator when the battery runs out," Times quotes Chevrolet's statement. "...Giving you the confidence to go as far as you want."

The new Chevy car's 1.5-liter engine delivers a maximum of 101 horsepower. The two engines can be used simultaneously to make the car deliver a maximum of 149 horsepower, but it will still be silent despite the increase in power. The two electric motors of the car help increase its efficiency and save electricity at the same time, the report details.

A fully charged Chevy Volt can travel up to 53 miles and the car can be recharged in less than five hours using a 240-volt charging station. Once the electric power is drained out, the 1.5-liter engine takes over to allow the car to function continuously. Together, the two engines can take the driver up to 420 miles.

The Chevrolet Volt 2016 still shares a lot of features with other sedans of the same brand, but it has been tweaked a bit to make it sportier, the report adds.

Fans of the Chevrolet Volt 2016 can take home the new hybrid electric car if they are ready to drop $33,995. The new vehicle will begin shipping to California and 10 other U.S. states starting this December. However, consumers from other states will have to wait until January 2016 to get their hands on the new Chevrolet Volt 2016.
