'Chicago Fire' Season 4 Recap/Update: Casey and Dawson Reunited, Severide Demoted

The drama television series "Chicago Fire" has returned for its fourth season run on NBC with its season premiere on October 13. The premiere episode offers viewers a glimpse of what might be in store for our characters this coming season and according to a report in Parade, it will be all about the major changes that will happen in Firehouse 51.

The show's on-again and off-again couple Matthew Casey and Gabriela Dawson, as seen during the first episode, will be getting back together again. But a major change is coming their way this coming season, as Dawson tells Casey that she is pregnant with his child. All of this of course is framed by the events that happened earlier when Casey confronted Nesbitt.

As for the other main character, Lt. Kelly Severide, he finds himself demoted when a review of his squad shows that under his leadership, there has been a very high turn-over rate, which may have something to do with the way he runs things. While somebody new (Captain Dallas Patterson) is brought in to take over, Severide is sent to a leadership seminar where he hooks up with a character played by Rachel Nichols.

According to a report in The Hollywood Reporter, Dawson's predicament, although a happy one for the couple, may not bode well for Dawson's ambitions to become a firefighter, something that she has always wanted. This was revealed by the show's executive producer, Matt Olmstead. He also mentioned that she will be busying herself this season with the arson investigation that will involve Firehouse 51.

Olmstead also revealed that Severide's seemingly innocent affair with the woman at the seminar will eventually lead to what he calls "a huge betrayal down the road."

He also hinted that come January 2016, there will be a three-show crossover that will involve "Chicago Fire," "Chicago P.D." and "Chicago Med." What is also interesting to note about this season is that all three shows also have each of their current episodes ending with a scene at Molly's, a local bar, which Olmstead said was their way to connect the shows together.
