'Chicago P.D.' Season 5 Spoilers: Intelligence Unit Deals With Smugglig Ring in Episode 5
The team goes up against the worst kind of criminal on the upcoming episode of "Chicago P.D." season 5.
Titled "Home," this week's episode will center on a smuggling ring that targets young foreign adoptees. Intelligence busts a meth lab run by notorious gang leader Marshall Carter (guest star Aaron Roman Weiner), but they immediately learn the case does not end there. The team uncovers a re-homing scam in which kids adopted from other countries are abandoned, only to be sold secretly online.
Elsewhere, Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins) is worried about his family's safety. He is forced to decide whether he will move his siblings Jordan (guest star Kylen Davis) and Vinessa (guest star Bobbi MacKenzie) outside of Chicago to make sure they are out of harm's way.
The promo opens with Atwater struggling with the fact that the killer he tried to put away is out for revenge. He placed their home under a lockdown, but he is well aware that he has to find a better solution to protect his family.
Meanwhile, Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) and the rest of the Intelligence Unit are determined to end the smuggling ring once and for all. The group watches the suspect through a hidden camera as he sells a young boy to a buyer.
On another note, former cast member Sophia Bush recently broke her silence about her exit from the show. While promoting her upcoming project, the actress answered an Instagram follower who suggested she may have been kicked out of "Chicago P.D." after her four-year stint.
"Took me a long time and a lot of hard work to get out of that show," Bush wrote in response to the commenter. "Please don't demean my capabilities by degrading my position. I left because I wanted to. End of story."
The fifth season of "Chicago P.D." airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
