'Chicago P.D.' Season 5 Spoilers: Upton Reunites With an Old Foe in Episode 6
Det. Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) makes a small sacrifice for the team on the upcoming episode of "Chicago P.D." season 5.
Titled "Fallen," this week's episode will see Upton assigned to a drug-related murder case. A seemingly perfect family is shot dead in their house, leading the team to search for a drug dealer who may have a link to the victims.
Det. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe) seeks the help of Vice Sergeant Sean McGrady (guest star Wil Traval), who turns out to be Upton's enemy. The case takes a surprising turn when McGrady turns up dead while the investigation is ongoing.
In other news, "Chicago P.D." will be airing its milestone 100th episode early next year. The cop drama will be staging yet another crossover with "Chicago Fire" next year to celebrate the big event.
Airing in March, the special episode kicks off with an episode of "Chicago P.D." before concluding the next night on "Chicago Fire." The shows' sibling "Chicago Med" will not be part of the crossover but it has been previously announced that characters from the medical series will be appearing on the special as well.
Things will be a bit tricky though, because one of the challenges for "Chicago P.D." this season was its move to the Thursday-at-10 timeslot after NBC decided not to move "This is Us" to Thursdays. "Chicago Fire" showrunner Derek Haas explained in August that previous crossovers were easier to write since it starts with "a big accident to the hospital to the police figuring it out."
He added, "This time, we would be the Thursday night show so unless we can manipulate the schedule — which we've done in the past — to put 'Fire' first, we'd have to get into the nuts and bolts of how to do that."
The fifth season of "Chicago P.D." airs every Wednesday night at 10 p.m. EST on NBC.
