A child drowned on a cruise ship off the North Carolina coast Monday. The 4-year-old was on a Norwegian Cruise Line ship pool with another 6-year-old child when he drowned, officials revealed.
The child who drowned on the cruise ship was found in the swimming pool unresponsive along with the other boy. The Norwegian Breakaway's emergency crew arrived, pulled the 4-year-old from the water and attempted to resuscitate him, but to no avail.

"We extend our deepest sympathies to the family during this extremely difficult time and are providing full assistance and support. The family is in our thoughts and prayers and we ask that you please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as well."
The other 6-year-old child the emergency services crew managed to revive with CPR, they flew him to CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern along with his grandmother and a nurse from the ship. From there, he was transferred to the Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
The boy's parents did not want the status of their child revealed to the public, a hospital spokesman told the Associated Press.
The Norwegian Breakaway, one of the cruise line's newest and best 4,000-passenger ships, was headed from New York to Florida when the incident occurred. After that, the itinerary states that they are headed to the Bahamas.
