'Children of the Whales' Episode 5 Spoilers: What Secrets Lie in the Bowels of the Mud Whale?
More than just being the Mud Whale's official archivist, Chakuro has now taken on the role of keeping his beloved home afloat against the threat of their very own Council of Elders on the Japanese fantasy anime series, "Children of the Whales." And with the masked exterminators due back in seven days to finish their task, will sinking the Mud Whale along with everyone else be the only option left after all?
As the elders themselves have revealed to the new chief, Suou, the people of Mud Whale and the masked exterminators were originally from the same breed — that is, until their ancestors were exiled to the sand sea for a certain sin. The Mud Whale continues to be a place of exile to this day, and it seems that thru the Falena Extermination Project, the people from the mainland have decided to wipe Mud Whale out once and for all.
And with all these threats coming from every direction, Chakuro had just been given a new mission via a vision of the late Lady Taisha conjured by the mysterious pink-haired girl, Nelli. In it, Lady Taisha told Chakuro to be an archivist of the truth and bear witness to everything that's about to happen until the very end.
However, Chakuro has also now decided that he wasn't just going to sit around waiting for everything to end. And with strong allies joining his cause, it seems that there just might be hope for the Mud Whale yet.
The preview for the next episode titled "I Don't Want to Run" teases a confrontation with the elders following Chakuro and crew's discovery of what lies in the deepest bowels of the Mud Whale.
There also seems to be a battle between the rebel Ouni and the Captain of the Guards, who has intentionally let the weaker group pass through in order to keep the stronger rebel at bay.
What new truths will Chakuro learn about the Mud Whale? How will Lykos help them save the ship both from the Elders and the exterminators? Will her newly regained emotions prove to be a weakness, just as her former people predicted, or will it turn out to be the very thing that ultimately saves the Mud Whale?
