'Cities: Skylines' Xbox One Version Available April 21; New DLC Coming to PC

The "SimCity"-inspired building game, "Cities: Skyline," is finally heading to a console this month as it will be made available for the Xbox One this April 21.

The game has only been available for the PC, Mac and Linux platforms since its release in 2015. Now, it is expanding beyond the keyboard to be played on a console device.

Aside from the main "Cities: Skyline" game, the Xbox One release will also come with its first downloadable content expansion, "After Dark," which adds the nightlife, tourist attractions, more transportation options and other services that can safeguard and accommodate citizens' nighttime activities.

Game publisher Paradox Interactive did not make any announcement as to whether or not other DLCs of the game such as "Snowfall" and "Natural Disasters" will also come later for Xbox One players.

"Cities: Skyline" can now be pre-ordered through the Xbox Store for $40 and will be playable on its official release date, April 21.

Meanwhile, PC players of the game can expect an incoming DLC expansion called "Mass Transit," though no release date is set yet.

This DLC expansion will add more transportation access and options for citizens whether through land, air or sea. Again, it is yet unclear if this DLC will be released for Xbox One soon enough.

"Cities: Skyline" became a popular PC game as it allows players to build and manage vast city landscapes much like the "SimCity" premise but with more complicated and challenging urban planning activities.

Aside from infrastructure, players also need to solve traffic woes, provide education policies, impose laws, and provide accommodation and basic utilities to its citizens and tourists.

The game had its second anniversary last month, with Paradox announcing that "Cities: Skyline" sold over 3.5 million copies for its PC, Mac and Linux version, making it the best-selling title for the Swedish gaming company.
