Claire Danes has welcomed baby Cyrus Michael Christopher Dancy into the world on Dec. 17.
The actress has confirmed the birth to People magazine, and it is the first child for her and Hugh Dancy. The birth comes following Danes' announcement in July that she was pregnant. Despite the 33 year old's announcement she still continued to play her part of CIA officer Carrie Mathison on Showtime's hit drama series "Homeland."
The actress continued to act the part without the pregnancy ever being written into the show by the writers.
Danes has previously said, "We're in the middle of filming our second season and luckily, we've been able to conceal (my belly)," according to an interview on "Live! With Kelly" on Sept. 4.
An Emmy Award was presented to the actress for her role in the hit TV show in September, and at that time she thanked her husband, Dancy.
"My husband, my love, my life, my baby daddy. This doesn't mean anything without you," she said during her acceptance speech.
Dancy himself is a well known actor starring in various movies as well as TV programs, including, "Basic Instinct 2" and "The Big C."
"Homeland" is said to be based on the hit Israeli TV series "Hatufim" (Kidnapped). Executive producer Alex Gansa previously revealed what the series had in store for season two amid concerns that Danes' pregnancy may affect the filming of the show.
"We have the ability now to jump time between seasons- so don't be surprised if we don't pick up the very next day. By jumping some time, we're going to be able to put our characters in different places than they have been this season. There will be a reset, probably after a jump in time, and both [Carrie and Brody] will be in very different places than they are now." a source revealed.
"The centre of season two will be the same as the centre of season one and that is the Carrie-Brody relationship," the source added.
Danes, who married Dancy in a private ceremony in France during 2009, previously spoke out about the confidence she gained through marriage.
"My mom Carla taught me that a long marriage can work. My parents have been together since they were 18 so I am privileged to have them as role models," Danes said.
"I like marriage. I feel very secure. It helps when you are in love with the person you are married to," she added. "I do sometimes look at him and think, 'You are really handsome.' He keeps me sane and happy."
