Cleveland Cavaliers News: Love's Shoulder Injury Could Hinder LeBron's Chances to Take Team Back to NBA Finals
After sweeping the Boston Celtics in the first round of the playoffs, it should have been a fun and relaxed week for the Cleveland Cavaliers as they wait for the victor of the Bulls-Bucks series.
Unfortunately, that is not the case as the Cavs received a grave report from team general manager David Griffin about the condition of Kevin Love's shoulder.
According to a report by ESPN, the dislocation and injury of Love's shoulder is serious, and in the words of general manager Griffin, "extensive."
"This is not a situation where we are expecting that he will be available for any of (the postseason), and we are in the process of gathering information and seeing what the exact right next steps are, and every option is on the table. Surgery is an option as well, if necessary. We're going to continue to look at that, but I don't want there to be any expectation on Kevin that he'll be back," said Griffin in an interview.
During Game 4 of the Cavs' series with the Celtics, Love got tangled with forward Kelly Olynyk during a loose ball situation in the first quarter.
In the report, Olynyk reportedly pulled too much that it dislocated the joint of Love's shoulder.
Love underwent an MRI on Monday, where the official condition was stated as an "acute anterior inferior glenohumeral dislocation with the corresponding ligament/labrum tearing and humeral head bone bruising."
Love is in his first playoffs appearance since joining the league in 2008. Love has played most of his career with the Timberwolves, and was its top scorer for consecutive seasons.
The absence of Love in the latter half of the post-season is a huge blow for the Cavs, who are lacking depth in their frontcourt.
