CM Punk Retires from WWE; Superstar Moved to 'Alumni' Section of WWE's Website
The wrestler known as CM Punk has officially retired from the WWE. Rumors have been rampant about his departure since he abruptly walked away from the organization in January, but now things seem to be official.
The WWE moved Punk from its website's section of active wrestlers to the retired section. Fans immediately noticed the change and took to social media to discuss what it meant for Punk's career. The fan-favorite also took to Twitter to thank fans for all of their support over the years; it was perhaps a swan song for all those who continually chanted "CM Punk" at WWE events.
"Nope, thank YOU. Thanks for all the help and support through the years. Health and happiness above all. Don't ever take any [expletive] from anybody," Punk tweeted.

The WWE Superstar became famous for his attitude and challenge to the Authority, as well as his revenge on former manager Paul Heyman. Fans cheered in triumph when Punk finally got his hands on Heyman and was able to finally have a physical confrontation with the manager he had been pursuing for months.
Over the weekend, Punk tweeted that he was busy moving on from the WWE; even though he had numerous fans in the WWE, Punk is likely to continue building a fan base in his new ventures.
"Starting a band, a podcast, and a fire. One of these is true. (Okay, two)," Punk tweeted on Sunday, just five days before his contract with the WWE expired.
Punk already has appearances scheduled, showing that he is clearly finished with the wrestling organization for now. He will appear at the Gibson Brands' AP Music Awards at the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on July 21.
For now, new wife AJ Lee will remain in the WWE. She recently returned from a honeymoon period and took back her Divas Champion title. She and Punk currently live in Chicago, Ill., but Lee will be required to travel across the nation as part of the WWE.
