CM Punk Starting Podcast, Band, Unlikely to Return to WWE

CM Punk has three days left before his contract with the WWE expires, and it's highly unlikely that he will sign or that the WWE will force him into another contract. Instead, it seems that Punk is eager to start a new chapter in his life, one that he revealed via Twitter to fans.

"Starting a band, a podcast, and a fire. One of these is true. (Okay, two)," Punk tweeted on Sunday, just five days before his contract expires.

Punk is a longtime music lover and will be co-hosting the Gibson Brands' AP Music Awards at the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio on July 21. The event will be broadcast on AXS TV, which would go against any contract Punk would have with the WWE. The organization is very protective of its superstars and limits their appearances on other programming.

Many assumed that Punk would return to the WWE given that his new wife, AJ Lee, made a surprise reappearance and claimed the Diva's championship in the same night. It's certain that she is back full-time, which means a separation from Punk as she continues to travel around the world with the WWE and Punk remains at home in Chicago, Illinois.

Fans have been desperate for Punk to return, but their desperation seems to be waning the longer that Punk stays away. New storylines including the breakup of The Shield, along with the return of Ric Flair, Chris Jericho, and appearances by Sting and Brett "The Hitman" Hart, have all added to the WWE's popularity, giving it a much-needed boost.

Punk recently appeared on season two of IFC's hit series "Maron," which brought him a lot of attention. He walked out of the WWE after the 2014 Royal Rumble and never looked back, even though owner Vince McMahon tried to get him back and even promised him a title match in Wrestlemania 30. Punk went his own way and intends to keep doing so.
