Conor McGregor News: Miesha Tate Loves A Bit Of Trash Talk

Two-time title contender Miesha Tate has become an instant fan of UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor and the latter's manner of self-promotion.

Tate and McGregor are co-headlining UFC 196 (formerly UFC 197) and will be gunning for respective titles. "Cupcake" will be fighting her second UFC title fight, this time around against champion Holly Holm, while "The Notorious" is looking to capture his second UFC title as he faces lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos.

UFC 196 is slated to take place on March 5 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.

A few days ago, the UFC held a pre-fight press conference for the said event, where McGregor and Tate sat next to each other. According to Tate, she was left amazed by McGregor's antics as the latter verbally tormented dos Anjos almost throughout the entire 45 minutes of the said media event.

Tate was so impressed that she even revealed to have been keeping herself from cracking up from the Irishman's statements towards the Brazilian champion.

"It's kind of mind blowing, honestly," Tate told mixed martial arts veteran journalist Ariel Helwani in her appearance on Monday's episode of The MMA Hour. "I have never sat next to Conor at a press conference. I've heard his interviews and things like that, but I've never sat next to him and really just listened to him do his full gamut of mental warfare, and it was honestly pretty impressive."

Tate went on to further describe McGregor's behavior at the time as "jaw-dropping" and says that he was "very witty and intelligent."

In the said press conference, McGregor showed up 25 minutes late, which Tate believes had irritated UFC president Dana White who was facilitating the event.

But for Tate, it was not a sign of disrespect as she believes it was all part of McGregor's way of being the "star of the show."

"He didn't want to just walk in like everybody else," Tate said. "He wanted to make his entrance, and he did."
