Conor McGregor News: 'The Notorious' Inducts Himself Into UFC Hall-of-Fame
The ever-brash UFC featherweight champion Conor McGregor recently made the headlines after another one of his infamous antics.
"The Notorious", who is known for his own brand of "mental warfare," has been able to rile up his opponents, who in turn become emotionally affected.
Through the lead up of his original fight date against former long-time champion José Aldo at UFC 189 in July of last year, McGregor incessantly talked down on the Brazilian champion through the ten-city press tour they went through, three months prior to the scheduled fight night.
Currently, he is slated to face lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos for the 155-pound world title. The match is slated to take place on March 5, as the headliner for UFC 196 (formerly UFC 197), at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
A victory for McGregor would make him the first fighter in UFC history to simultaneously hold two belts from two different weight classes.
Such a feat would indeed be a historic one. But despite the fact that it remains to be a mere possibility for now, the Irishman has already looked far into the future.
Through a series of tweets, the man also known as "Mystic Mac" for the accuracy of his predictions, inducted himself into the UFC Hall of Fame.
"I'm happy to announce that I have inducted myself into the UFC hall of fame. Details of event to follow," McGregor said in a tweet he posted on Monday, February 1st.
Several of his contemporaries, particularly former lightweight champion Frankie Edgar, seem to believe that McGregor is indeed in control, as far as making fights are concerned.
Edgar was first promised a featherweight title shot after his first round knockout victory over Chad Mendes at the TUF 22 Finale on December 11, a day prior to UFC 194.
But when McGregor won over Aldo and asked for a shot at dos Anjos, the UFC management agreed, leaving Edgar in rightful disappointment.
McGregor seems to agree with these assessments from his fellow fighters.
"The game is on its knees and I'm on a throne," McGregor wrote in another tweet.
