Conor McGregor Next's Fight Rumors 2017: Irishman Might Fight Winner of Ferguson vs. Lee Match
After mixed martial artist Conor McGregor's attempt at professional boxing and failed against Floyd Mayweather Jr., fans are eager to know what the Irishman's UFC plans are.
In an hour-long question and answer at the SEC Armadillo auditorium in Glasgow, Scotland, the UFC lightweight champion teased what his plans are.
MMA Fighting journalist Peter Carroll, who was present during McGregor's interview, reiterated McGregor's conditions for returning to UFC on Dec. 30.
"McGregor says the only way he fights on Dec. 30 is if he only has to show for the weigh-in and then fight," he tweeted.
One thing is for certain, UFC's lightweight champion is looking forward to defending his title instead of participating in another "money fight."
"Look, I've got the UFC title to defend and that means something to me. I will defend that world title," McGregor declared during "An Evening with Conor McGregor" at the SEC Armadillo.
"I've already gone from the highest of the high in terms of a money fight," he stated, referencing his fight against Mayweather. "Now the question I always get is about defending the belt and legitimizing the sport and the rankings."
According to McGregor, he is looking forward to Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee's fight at UFC 216 on Saturday, Oct. 7. He says that he has to see how the fight will go down before he makes a decision. More importantly, he emphasized that it has to excite him.
If the fight interests him, the Irishman could go up against the winner of the Ferguson vs. Lee fight next.
Furthermore, McGregor said that he wants to face professional boxer Paulie Malignaggi in the octagon. The Irishman once posted photos of their sparring sessions, showing the boxer getting quite a beating. Shortly after, Malignaggi left Mcgregor's camp and since then the pair has been feuding.
The Irishman may have lost by a 10th round knockout to Mayweather last month but in the octagon, these professional boxers would not stand a chance his MMA skills.
