Conor McGregor Set To Earn €15M After Vegas Win Against Jose Aldo

The Irish UFC fighter has done it again. After defeating pound-for-pound king Jose Aldo in the octagon last December 12, the MMA fighter from Dublin is set to earn an estimated €15 million as a result of his win and getting the featherweight title at the same time. According to a report in The Irish Independent, McGregor will be expecting a big increase in his earnings in the next 12 months after the Vegas fight. This will bring him closer to his goal of reaching a net worth of $100 million, which he declared in October of this year, as something that was close to happening.

His estimated earnings from signing up for the fight alone is close to €6 million, but according to PSG Sponsorship Account Director Rob Pearson, in his interview with the Independent, when McGregor won the fight, his "net worth skyrocketed and he can expect to earn in the region of €15 million in 2016, a 35 percent increase on his total earnings last year."

According to the report, aside from his fight earnings, he is also expected to get a lot of bonuses from his sponsors, such as Reebok, Monster Energy and Volvo. But the bigger source of his earnings will be coming from the Pay-Per-View earnings of the fight. Given that the UFC event earned a whopping €91 million, McGregor is estimated to get around €5.5 million as his share.

No less than UFC itself acknowledges the marketability of McGregor and according to Pearson, the UFC considers him an asset because of "his unique ability to charm and offend in equal measures" which "has resulted in hype, headlines and massive pay days for The UFC."

As for McGregor, he is well aware of his worth and value, so much so that he is confident that he will be able to outdo big earners like Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, whose latest fight earned a record $72 million. According to the report, he was quoted as saying: "I'm catching up [with Mayweather] I'm only 27... I'm only warming up."

Some of the fights already being lined up in 2016 include a rematch with Aldo and a match with Frankie Edgar, a former featherweight champion, which the report said will earn him around €10-12 million in prize and Pay-Per-View money.
