Cote de Pablo in 'The Dovekeepers' Delights Fans, Brings Popular Actress to Inspirational Series
"NCIS" fans can see their favorite actress, Cote de Pablo, in a new CBS miniseries from executive producers Roma Downey and Mark Burnett. It's the first time de Pablo will make her return to TV since leaving "NCIS" last year, much to the disappointment of thousands of fans.
"We are thrilled to have Cote de Pablo starring in 'The Dovekeepers,'" Downed told CBS News. "Her talent, strength, and beauty will light up the screen in the important role of Shirah."
"The Dovekeepers" is based on Alice Hoffman's historical novel about four women whose lives intersect in a desperate fight for survival at the siege of Masada, when 900 Jews managed to hold out against Roman armies for several months. Only two women and five children survived. Hoffman's novel focuses on the four lives of courageous women who hold extraordinary strength and are determined to survive.
Yael is a young woman whose mother died in childbirth and whose father never forgave her for "killing" her mother. Revka suffers from flashbacks after seeing her daughters murdered by Roman soldiers; she tries to save her young grandsons by bringing them to Masada. Aziza is a young woman who has been raised as a boy but finds love with a fellow soldier. Finally, there is Shirah, a woman with knowledge of magic and medicine, who holds great insight and power.
De Pablo will play Shirah, "a sensual, mysterious and fiercely independent single mother with uncanny insights and a quiet and mysterious power," CBS said.
It's a miniseries about faith and the will to survive, made even more significant by the fact that it is based on a true event. The show, a four-hour series, will air in 2015 and is a co-production between CBS Television Studios and LightWorkers Media, the agency ran by Downey and Burnett.
"Excited to announce that Cote de Pablo will star in @MarkBurenttTV & I's new mini-series #TheDovekeepers on @CBS," Downey tweeted.
It's clear that de Pablo's fans are already counting down the days until " The Dovekeepers" brings her back to the small screen.
