D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD Release Date, Specs, Price News: First HomeKit-Enabled Security Camera Now Available
After introducing the Omna 180 Cam HD earlier this year, D-Link has announced that the first HomeKit-enabled camera is now available to purchase on Apple.com and will be arriving at Apple stores later this month. The new smart security camera allows users to monitor their homes at all times, whether it's to check on their pet or for peace of mind in making sure that there are no intruders.
The Omna 180 Cam HD is the first device in D-Link's HomeKit-enabled device lineup. Its name is derived from the Latin word "omnis," meaning all-encompassing, which is apt as the surveillance camera is able to provide a 180-degree field of view of one's home. It is able to offer more visibility compared with the 130-degree cameras currently offered in the market.
Notable features of the Omna 180 Cam HD include de-warping technology, constantly adjusting video bitrate for optimal performance and infrared night vision for visibility of up to 16 feet in complete darkness. The security camera also has a built-in microphone and speaker for two-way audio that allows users to listen and speak even when they are far from home.
When it comes to monitoring one's home, the Omna 180 Cam HD is equipped with advanced security features like end-to-end encryption and authentication between the camera and Apple devices like the iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
If any kind of activity is detected, users will receive a notification on their lock screen. Via the Apple Home app, one will receive a snapshot of their home at the time that motion was detected. They can then access live feed provided by the camera to keep track of what is happening at home in real time.
The Omna 180 Cam HD has a microSD card slot with support for up to 128 GB so that the camera can record Full HD videos whenever the motion detector is activated. A resolution of 1,920 x 1,080 pixels ensures that the clips are crisp and detailed.
D-Link's new camera features a stylish, elegant and modern design so it will not stick out like a sore thumb in one's home setup. It only takes a few seconds for the device to be set up. Furthermore, the security camera will also be able to work seamlessly with other HomeKit-enabled devices.
The D-Link Omna 180 Cam HD is available to purchase for $199.95.
