Dallas Cowboys vs. Houston Texans: CJ Spillman Faces Sexual Assault Accusations
The Dallas Cowboys will be facing against the Houston Texans coming Oct. 6 at 1 p.m. EST at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. Both are two of the eight teams in their division with three wins each and no team has four wins yet – the Cardinals are already 3-0 as well as the Cincinnati Bengals. The Cowboys and the Texans both have the opportunity to move to four wins.
While the Cowboys are worrying about their next game with the Texans and their potential 4-1 record, C.J. Spillman, the defensive back for the Cowboys, is being investigated for a sexual assault case. The case was filed Sept. 20, according to Sgt. Robert Eberling of the Grapevine Police Department. No other information has been released to help in the investigation of the alleged incident.
"Any investigation involving a sexual assault does take some time. At this point, there has not been any arrests or formal charges have been filed or anything like that. But we're continuing to investigate," Eberling said.
Apparently, the alleged rape occurred in the early hours of Sept. 20 at the Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center, where the victim reported it to the police the very same day. Spillman's agent and attorney declined to comment on the accusations.
Spillman had only signed with the Cowboys only last month and players who are newly signed to the team usually stay at the Gaylord Resort until they find permanent lodgings in Dallas.
