'Daredevil' Season 2 Spoilers: The Punisher 'Is Extraordinarily Memorable,' Viewers 'Will Fall In Love With' Elektra, Marvel Boss Reveals
Jeph Loeb, the Executive Vice President of Marvel Television, couldn't help but be excited about the second season of Marvel TV's "Daredevil" in a recent interview with ComicBook.com. The new season of the web TV series is set to introduce a couple of new Marvel Comics characters to the Marvel Cinematic Universe: Frank Castle aka The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) and Elektra (Elodie Yung), two morally ambiguous anti-hero types.
"Jon Bernthal has succeeded in his quest," Loeb said. "His Punisher is extraordinarily memorable, in every way." It has been previously reported that Bernthal, a "The Walking Dead" alum, had been feeling the pressure to portray a realistic "The Punisher" and had taken to walking to the "Daredevil" set alone to try and get into The Punisher's mental and emotional state.
Another thing to look forward to in Season 2 is the debut of Elektra, Matt Murdock's (Charlie Cox) ex-girlfriend. "You will fall in love with Elodie Yung as Elektra, and she will break your heart," Loeb revealed, adding that this is what the mercenary does to people.

According to the Marvel executive, Season 2 seeks to answer the question of what it means to be a hero. "What's fantastic about the story is, is that it's created this enormous division in [Matt's] life, because the woman that he once loved has returned, and she certainly has some issues with morality, and how you get the job done, and going on the other end of the spectrum is Frank Castle, who believes that justice needs to be served in a particular way," Loeb said.
Matt Murdock/Daredevil, a staunch believer in the law, will grapple with the question of whether or not he is, in essence, a vigilante - just like The Punisher and Elektra. This central dilemma will drive the Season 2 story, Loeb revealed. The Marvel boss went on to say that the interaction between the series regulars is something to look forward to as well. He also praised the Season 2 showrunners, Doug Petrie and Marco Ramirez, as well as their writing team, for their work on the new season.
The second season of Marvel Television's "Daredevil" hits Netflix on Friday, March 18.
