"Every Silver Lining" also reveals a plot twist for Deb, played by Jennifer Carpenter. It seems that the possibility of a relationship between Dexter and Deb isn't really much of a possibility after all, despite hints in that direction in pervious episodes. Deb tells Dexter she cannot love him, even if she wanted to.

"I didn't want to hate you," she told him. "I wanted the opposite, but it didn't turn out that way, and I can't change the way I feel."

Further complicating Deb's character is the reveal that she can now be classified as a serial killer herself. In last nights episode, Deb admits to killing El Sapo, and alludes to others she has murdered.

"You know what, El Sapo's not the first [expletive] person I've shot, and it might not be the [expletive] last ... anything can happen in this [expletive] that is now my life," Deb said to Dexter.
