DiCaprio on Marriage: 'I Want to Get Married and Have Children,' Says Actor

Leonardo DiCaprio has turned on his previous statements and suggested that he is interested in settling down with a wife and kids.

DiCaprio has a history of dating a number of models. In the past he has said that he has little interest in exclusive relationships. But in recent months, it appears that the "Great Gatsby" actor has had a change of heart.

"I want to get married and have children. In saying that, I realize I am contradicting everything I've said before. I absolutely believe in marriage," he told Parade magazine in a recent interview.

The actor, who has been dating model Bar Rafaeli on and off over the past two years, admitted that his life was lacking normalcy- something he might not mind more of.

"What I definitely feel a need for is to make my life about more than just my career. Just last night I was thinking to myself how little of my life has been lived normally and not spent on some far-off movie location," he said.

But despite his feeling on the matter, DiCaprio also said that he would not be rushing in to anything too soon.

"I take it as it comes. We'll see what happens in the future. I don't try to determine what the future will be. I take it day by day," he said during an Extra interview on Wednesday night.

Last year the actor had suggested that he wasn't interested in getting married because he had seen too many marriages fail unexpectedly.

"I don't know whether I'll ever get married. I've seen too many supposedly happy marriages go down. I've been as shocked as anyone," he told the Daily Express in 2012.

Regardless of whether he gets married or not though, DiCaprio has revealed that it is time for at least a short break in his acting career.

"To me, right now it's about getting a little breather, getting some time off," he told Extra. "Not a permanent break or not an indefinite period, but you know, just a few months off to do some other things."
