'Dies Irae' Episode 4 Spoilers: Ren Fujii Decides to Fight Back

Something big and destructive is about to descend on Suwahara City, and Ren Fujii may well be at the center of it all. How can a guy possibly win a battle he could be fighting against himself all along on the Japanese action-fantasy anime series, "Dies Irae"?

The previous episode gave fans of the series a handful of significant revelations that could bring the narrative to more interesting directions.

First, there's the fact that Kasumi Ayase turned out to be the hand behind the serial murders that have been happening around the city in conjunction to Ren's recurring nightmare of getting beheaded at a guillotine. But Kasumi herself was not aware of what she has been doing, and the only thing she seemed to know beyond a doubt was how she would willingly do anything to help Ren out.

And according to Kei Sakurai, Ren knew about this and has even put his own friend to it in order to help meet the conditions of a decades-old plan that was about to find fulfillment in Ren's city.

However, now that Ren has revoked his own order and told Kasumi to stop, how will this affect, not only the plan, of which he knows so little about right now, but also his and Kasumi's lives?

How does Ren plan on facing his enemies headlong and thus putting an end to whatever it is that's been going on?

A swastika has apparently been opened, leaving seven more to be unsealed. Will Ren be able to prevent the potentially catastrophic result of all eight swastikas being opened? What role does he really play in all of this, and how will he be able to turn things around in the next episode titled "Spider"?

"Dies Irae" airs on Mondays late night at 12:30 a.m. JST on BS11, on Fridays late night at 1:05 a.m. JST on Tokyo MX, and on Saturdays 9 p.m. JST on AT-X.
