'Dirt Rally' DLC News, Updates: New Expansion Brings Virtual Support for PS4
The PlayStation 4 version of racing game "Dirt Rally" has just received a new update that adds PlayStation Virtual Reality support for the game.
Aside from the game being playable in virtual reality for single mode, the new downloadable content expansion also introduces a co-op mode into the racing game. This allows one player to be the main driver in PS VR, while the other acts as a co-driver on a screen, using the buttons and touchpad on a DualShock 4 to be further engrossed in the action.
"Dirt Rally's" new DLC pack is currently sold at $13, but for those who don't own the game yet, the base game along with the VR support DLC is currently offered for $43 (original price is $70). Or if you are a PlayStation Plus member, the bundle can be bought at a further reduced price of $37. These discounted offers, however, are only up until today, Feb. 21.
The new VR DLC also supports PS4 Pro users who will experience the game's graphics at a whole new level. The difference in graphics are, however, not specified, only that PS4 Pro players will "be able to see the difference with the graphical improvements it brings."
In other news, game developer Codemasters announced that a "Dirt Rally 4" game, aka "DiRT 4," is already set for release this year, and fans speculate that the new installment may include PS VR support all the way, considering that it has already been made possible with the current DLC.
Codemasters' senior executive producer Clive Moody says that the upcoming "Dirt Rally" title will still retain the depth of the game, but it will also add some help for players who have struggled with it throughout the years, noting that many players complained about how difficult the game is.
The game's difficulty is due to the developers' dedication to really mimic what it takes to control a rally car.
For "Dirty Rally 4" however, Moody assures gaming fans that it will help less experienced players while adding more modes and off-the-track features. The game is set to launch by June 2017 for PS4, Xbox One and PC players.
