Dolly Parton Shoots Down Nickname: 'Dr. Dolly or Double D?' Suggests Michael Strahan (VIDEO)

Dolly Parton has shot down the nickname suggested for her by Michael Strahan when she appeared on Live with Kelly and Michael.

The co-host attempted to offer Parton a new nickname after finding out that she had received an honorary doctorate from the University of Tennessee.

Strahan said, "So now that you have your doctorate, do we call you Dr. Dolly or Double D?"

The suggestion sparked laughter from the audience as well as from Strahan's co-host Kelly Ripa. Parton also saw the funny side of the suggestion, and laughed along.

Strahan then defended himself saying, "It's an innocent question!"

Meanwhile, the iconic country music singer has recently ruled out any possibility of ever performing on Broadway during an interview. The 66-year-old has composed over 3,000 songs over the course of her career and her distinct voice has made her known as "The Queen of Country Music."

Despite her prolific career though, Parton said performing on Broadway would have taxing results on her voice, and for that reason suggested Broadway was not for her.

"I'm amazed by the people who work on stage, that sing night after night, week in week out," the "Jolene" told The Daily Express in England.

She added, "I don't have that kind of voice. I really don't think my voice would hold up to a do a show like that. That's one of the reasons I've never been on Broadway."

Recently Parton has also been forced to deny that she is a lesbian, after some sources suggested her close friendship with childhood friend Judy Ogle was more than just friendship.

Parton shot down those suggestions immediately, saying, "Judy and I have been best friends since we were like in the third and fourth grade. We still just have a great friendship and relationship and I love her as much as I love anybody in the whole world, but we're not romantically involved."
