Dolly Parton Tour: Singer Offers to Adopt Dog Left at Tour Site

Country music icon Dolly Parton has offered to adopt a dog left at the site of her concert in Glastonbury. The dog has been named Dolly and is currently residing at the Happy Landings animal shelter in Pylle, Somerset.

"I was sad that someone left a little dog behind," Parton told The Telegraph. "How could that be? But I'm hoping that they do find the owners, maybe they just lost her, but in the meantime everybody's on top of it. They've promised me that they are going to take good care of the little dog and I feel very honored and flattered that for a time she's named Dolly. I'm sure she has a real name but if they never find the owner I'll be happy to say I have a doggy named after me. Something else special from Glastonbury."

Parton also launched a social media appeal to try and find the owner of the pup.

"I had my manager call the Happy Landings animal shelter to make sure the dog is being treated and cared for properly. At this time, nobody has claimed the dog and the dog is in great hands at the shelter. I will take the dog home to America if nobody claims her within a reasonable amount of time," Parton said.

It was the first time that Parton had performed in Somerset and she has now moved on to Germany but noted that she will take time out to pick up the dog and bring her to the U.S. if necessary. She hopes the original owners will be found but is willing to take "Dolly" home with her and provide a good home.

"How anyone could do such a thing is beyond me," a spokesman for Happy Landings told the Mirror. "She is a sweet natured, older Lurcher, and clearly very stressed to find herself in this predicament. We had hoped that an owner would come forward but there has still been nothing."

The shelter noted that they had received numerous calls about the dog ever since Parton got involved, but so far the original owners have not come forward.
