Donald Trump's Approval Ratings Reach an All-Time Low, Poll Reveals

U.S. President Donald Trump's approval ratings have reached an all-time low, a new survey reveals. The result of the latest poll was released ahead of the anniversary of Trump's victory over Hillary Clinton during the 2016 U.S. presidential elections.

Conducted by the Washington Post and ABC, the poll was released on Nov. 5 and shows that Trump's approval rating nine months after he assumed his position is only 37%, lower than any other modern president's approval ratings. Washington Post-ABC also said that Trump's current rating is the lowest they have ever found in their seven decades of conducting polls.

According to the poll, with a disapproval rating of 59%, Trump's approval margin is pushed to -22, making him the only U.S. president to have a negative margin in decades. Former President Barack Obama's lowest disapproval rating was only 40%, with a margin of +17%. Meanwhile, George W. Bush had a disapproval rating of only 9% and a margin of 80 around this time of his tenure in November 2001.

The poll revealed that 65% of the respondents do not believe that Trump is "honest and trustworthy." This figure is up by 7% from 58% back in April 2017. Two-thirds of the respondents also say that Trump does not have "the kind of personality and temperament it takes to serve effectively as president."

Since before Trump took office in January, expectations for his presidency have already dropped significantly. Reports suggest that prior to his inauguration, 61% of Americans thought he would do an excellent job on the economy, but only 44% feel that he is doing well on the economy now. Expectations when it comes to how he handles race relations and improves the country's health care system have also dropped by as much as 12% and 18%, respectively.

Trump has faced multiple controversies since taking office, including his responses to a recent white supremacist rally held in Vancouver, the hurricanes that have hit the U.S., and his apparent difficulty in pushing through his promised legislation.
