'Dragon Quest XI' Confirmed for the Nintendo Switch
"Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age" is coming to the Nintendo Switch.
On Monday, it was confirmed that the popular Japanese game "Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age" is being developed for the Nintendo Switch. Not only that, developers will be working on the Switch version of the game using Unreal Engine 4. This is the same engine that the PlayStation 4 version of the game is using which means that it may become a port for that platform.
The one to break this news is none other than the "Dragon Quest" series creator himself, Yuji Horii. According to Horii, the Switch version of "Dragon Quest XI" will be made using the Unreal Engine 4. Previously, the Switch wasn't supported by the engine, but with the arrival of Unreal Engine 4 version 4.15, the door was finally opened for the Nintendo console.

The revelation was made during the Epic Games Japan's Unreal Fest East where Horii was present. The 63-year-old was there as a guest speaker, and he unintentionally revealed that a Switch version of "Dragon Quest XI" is coming. During that moment, Horii shared how he was unsure about discussing the Switch version of the game, but before he could explain anything further, Mitsuru Kamiyama of Square Enix exclaimed: "You already said it!" Switch owners may finally be able to play "Dragon Quest XI" on the platform when it arrives.
As with its name, "Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age" is the 11th installment of the "Dragon Quest" series. In North America, the game is titled "Dragon Warrior." The series has become quite a popular game in Japan, but unfortunately, it wasn't able to channel its success over to the West. "Dragon Quest XI" was first released back in July for the Nintendo 3DS and the PS4 and will be coming to the US sometime next year.
