'El Capitan' Bug Fix: Microsoft Finally Releases Patch for Outlook 2011 Bug
Microsoft has finally released the patch for the Apple OS X El Capitan bug, which caused Outlook 2011's email client to lag in the middle of the synchronization process.
Other El Capitan users have also noticed problems with the Microsoft Office 2016, but the company is still addressing the bug found in Outlook 2011. The said bug caused the application to hang when it syncs email with the server, according to Softpedia.
Microsoft said it is aware of the bugs causing the app crashes, but the firm told MacRumors that they are now working on a patch.
Last September, Microsoft released a statement explaining the nature of the problem with the Apple OS X El Capitan.
"Shortly after you start Microsoft Outlook for Mac 2011 on Mac OS X El Capitan (version 10.11), Outlook hangs when it tries to sync with the server," Softpedia quotes Microsoft's explanation last month. "The Spinning Wait cursor is displayed, and the application status is displayed as 'Not Responding.'"
The said problem occurs only when the user is working online and the account is trying to sync emails. The issue does not appear to affect users who work offline or have no added accounts, Neowin reports.
To get the patch, users need to manually download it from Microsoft's support page and push Office for Mac2011 to the 14.5.6 version. The patch is applicable to Microsoft Office for Mac Academic 2011, Mac Home and Business 2011, Mac Home and Business 2011 Home Use Program, Mac Home and Student 2011, and Mac Standard 2011, the report details.
Meanwhile, users are still waiting for Microsoft to release a patch for Office 2016 on OS X El Capitan because the number of reported crash issues is growing daily. The tech giant has confirmed that it is working on a fix for this problem, so it will only be a matter of time before the new patched is released.
