Elisabeth Hasselbeck Debut on Fox & Friends Goes Well, Brings Fresh Voice to Top Cable Morning Show

Elizabeth Hasselbeck will make her debut on alongside Steve Doocy and Brian Kilmeade as the newest member Fox & Friends on Monday, after being a co-cost on The View for the last 10 years.

"I'd almost make the analogy that it's being called up to play for one of your favorite teams in the major leagues," said Hasselbeck, whose opening week will include a series of reports with the cast of Duck Dynasty.

"She's very smart. She's very outgoing," said Fox's executive vice president for programming. "She's a great on-air talent, a great personality and I think that will do very well for her in the morning."

Her conservative views will be much more in-line with her co-hosts at Fox & Friends, adding that the show is No. 1 in the cable ratings for a reason.

"You have an entertainment, wake-up show that delivers important information but also meaningful conversation with content that's able to be viewed by your entire family," said Hasselbeck, a mother of three.

She talked about other shows not always being suited for families but did not specify which ones. "I can't speak for the other shows because I'm not watching them," she said.

Hasselbeck's spot on The View was filled by Jenny McCarthy, but that transition was not without controversy.

The decision to pick McCarthy has not been without controversy due to the former model's anti-vaccine campaigns which have been denounced by numerous health organizations. McCarthy's son Evan is autistic and has advocated against vaccines by calling them a cause of autism.

McCarthy was, however, excited about her new role on the popular talk show.

"I'm beyond thrilled," said the comedian-actress in a statement. "I look forward to helping make hot topics a little bit hotter, and showing my mom that my interrupting skills have finally paid off."

"My sole mission while co-hosting The View is to inspire, entertain and engage in conversations that matter to the viewers," McCarthy added. "I have no personal agenda other than to spiritually grow from the life experiences that come with this job."
