'Fantastic Four' Reboot to Star Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara of 'House of Cards' and Others
A "Fantastic Four" reboot is on the way just seven years after the last movie in the series, but with a younger, less-known cast of rising stars. Four young stars will be re-telling the story of Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Girl, the Thing and Johnny Storm getting transformative powers.
The "Fantastic Four" reboot will tentatively star Kate Mara of "House of Cards," Michael B. Jordan of "Fruitvale Station," Miles Teller of "That Awkward Moment" and Jamie Bell, who starred in "Jumper" and "Nymphomaniac," according to The Hollywood Reporter. Josh Trank, who directed "Chronicle" in 2012, is slated to direct the blockbuster.
Michael B. Jordan is slated to play the Human Torch Johnny Storm, which is a real departure from the previous feature film and comic books, in which he is white with blonde hair and blue eyes. It's unknown if Jordan will have the wisecracking attitude of the former Torch, but he was fingered as one of the first actors involved in the project.
Mara will play the Invisible Girl Sue Storm, but it has not been reported whether she will be married to Mr. Fantastic, like she is in the comics. It also hasn't been explained how the Storms will be conceived as a family, as the comics introduced the two as brother and sister.
Miles Teller will be Reed Richards, or Mr. Fantastic, who has the ability to stretch his limbs to super-long lengths. THR reported that there is a chance he may not be able to star in the film, however, as he potentially has a John Belushi biopic shooting soon.
U.K. actor Jamie Bell may land the role of Ben Grimm, or The Thing, who is covered in rocks and boasts super strength.
The "Fantastic Four" reboot is being distributed by Fox and is slated for a June 19, 2015 release.
