'Fargo' Season 2 Spoilers Revealed: Prepare for New Cast, New Location, New Era

FX has released details of the newest season of "Fargo," including a new time period and a new setting. New characters and cast members have also been revealed, exciting fans.

"If you were paying attention to Season 1, we made a lot of reference to Sioux Falls, South Dakota," creator Noah Hawley announced at the Television Critics Association fall previews yesterday. "That was not an accident. It will take place in 1979 and take place around … Luverne, Minnesota and Fargo and Sioux Falls."

This will allow fans the opportunity to see the "major incident" that occurred in the life of Lou Solverson, who went from being an officer to a diner owner.

"Lou Solverson is a state police officer," Hawley said. "His wife Betsy, her dad is the sheriff of Rock County. Lou's father-in-law is a character in this next go-round. I don't know if we see any other Solversons … I'm excited to spend time with Molly's mom."

Also returning for Season 2 is Lt. Ben Schmidt, played by Peter Breitmayer. He was Gus Grimley's commanding officer who was also in Sioux Falls in 1979. Solverson served time in Vietnam and had recently returned to Sioux Falls at the time. How they will interact remains unknown but there's sure to be plenty of drama.

"It is a new cast of actors, which is kind of heartbreaking from my standpoint given how much I loved the actors," FX Networks' chief executive John Landgraf said at the same event.

One person who will not be returning is Allison Tolman, who played Lou's daughter Molly. In 179, she was 4, so the "Fargo" team will be scouting for a young girl to play Molly instead. Hawley noted that he was sad to lose Tolman because "she should be in everything everyone ever makes."

This season will draw from several movies made by the Coen Brothers, much as the first season did. According to Hawley, Season 2 will focus more on "Miller's Crossing" and "The Man Who Wasn't There," as well as "Fargo." The original series was meant to be a limited series but gained such a following that FX decided to pick it up for another season. The second season will not air until the fall of 2015 at the earliest.
