'Fast and Furious 8' Plot, Cast: Charlize Theron Coming On Board As Villain?
The upcoming installment of the "Fast and Furious" franchise could be bringing new characters to the roster.
It was reported that the upcoming film will be featuring a female villain. With that, there have been speculations that the role will be portrayed by Charlize Theron.
According to Deadline, Theron has not been approached yet regarding the matter, and she has yet to receive the script for the upcoming movie. With that, it is too early to determine if she will be taking on the role of the villain.
Along with that, another actress is rumored to return to the franchise. It was said that there is a possibility that Eva Mendes will return as Agent Fuentes. There has also been talks regarding Ronda Rousey's new opponent for the upcoming installment.
According to MTV, Rousey decided to pick someone who could be her enemy in "Fast and Furious 8." She stated, "Joanna Jedrzejczyk. She's a chick who just won the 115-pound belt. She's really tiny and skinny, but she's such a little ninja! I think it would be a such a cool addition — someone who looks really unassuming. I know I look good in a Herve Leger dress, but I also look like I could still kill you in it, and Joanna doesn't!"
Because of this, there are theories that "Fast and Furious 8" will be taking on a feminist approach to the story. However, Michelle Rodriguez previously spoke with Metro about the disadvantages of labelling the story that way. She said, "I think it's cute but you do lose a lot of audience when you specialise like that. "
With that, fans will just have to wait until the release of the film to see what is in store for the franchise. "Fast and Furious 8" is expected to premiere in theaters on Apr. 15, 2017.
