'FIFA 18' News: EA Game Launch Malfunctions on PC; Nintendo Version Lacks Support for Gaming With Friends
Electronic Arts (EA) launched the new "FIFA 18" game, and fans have reported that a malfunction occurred with the PC installment. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch version does not have a support for gaming with friends.
Last Friday, Sept. 29, EA launched the 18th installment to "FIFA," and a slight malfunction occurred with the PC version. According to PC Gamer, some, PC players weren't able to download "FIFA 18."
PC players went on Twitter to share their confusion over not being able to download the new "FIFA 18" despite its worldwide launch. PC players who tried to download the new game were faced with the error message, "We're sorry, Origin was unable to download your game. Please check your internet connection or try again later."
EA immediately caught up on the issue with the PC installments and updated their followers that they're already fixing the glitch. A few hours later, EA posted a tweet that the download should be fine.
"Were you having trouble downloading 'FIFA 18' on PC? Try again and you should be able to download now. Thanks for sticking with us," the post reads.
Meanwhile, "FIFA" players on Nintendo Switch are unhappy that the console doesn't support playing with friends.
According to Eurogamer, Nintendo Switch lacks the online infrastructure, such as a built-in invite system and a party system, which allows players to match up intentionally with their friends. The only thing that Nintendo Switch can do with "FIFA 18" is random matching with other gamers.
Although other games, including "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" and "Splatoon 2," enables players to match up with their friends, it is only made possible by game's developers, and not by Nintendo Switch.
EA has yet to give a patch that will enable "FIFA 18" on Nintendo Switch to invite friends for game matches.
"FIFA 18" is now available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Android, and Microsoft Windows.
