Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed Spoilers, Release Date and Trailer: Stars Share Filming Details; Here's What We Know

Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed, the last two installments to E.L. James' controversial Fifty Shades of Grey franchise, have just wrapped up a back-to-back filming. Following the success of the first film, which grossed more than $560 million against a $40 million budget and ranked as the No. 1 film worldwide, there's no doubt that the franchise has grown into a global phenomenon.

Jamie Dornan, the actor who plays the young business magnate Christian Grey, had recently dished out about the film's behind-the-scenes. Despite working on a huge hit, the star admitted it was more fun filming because the pressure was off; unlike the first movie which had the challenge of trying to set the right tone and mood.

Dornan also discussed how the energy had changed around the set, especially after Sam Taylor Johnson, who initially directed Grey, passed the torch to James Foley. While some things have changed, he said, it's still a lot of the same 200-strong crew, which allows them to enjoy filming a little bit more.

What the movie has in store

As the two films are essentially movie adaptations of the series, fans more or less have a general idea of how the movie is going to go down.

In the previous film, we saw Anastasia Steele (played by Dakota Johnson) walking away from Christian even though she is still deeply in love with him. We expect them to run back into each other's arms (and beds) in the next sequels.

In the novels, however, Ana gets pregnant and this causes a rift between her and Christian. He does not want to accept the baby, fearing that it will divide her attention. They will patch things up after Ana tried to rescue Mia Grey, Christian's sister, from her former boss, Jack Hyde.

The two films will likely focus more on their love story and the corresponding obstacles they will face. True to form, they will also feature more bed scenes, as well as few romantic scenes in Paris.

New characters

New films mean new characters, so expect to see a lot of new faces in both Darker and Freed. Kim Basinger (Elena Lincoln, Christian's first BDSM encounter), Bella Heathcote (Leila Williams, Christian's former submissive), Eric Johnson (Jack Hyde, Mia Grey's former boss and kidnapper), and Tyler Hoechlin (Boyce Fox) are all joining the cast and will likely be shaking up Ana and Christian's relationship.

Excited to see the new installments of your favorite series? Fifty Shades Darker will be out in theaters on Feb. 10, 2017, while Freed will be out Feb. 9, 2018.
