Floyd Mayweather News: 'Money May' Charges Fans Almost $3000 USD To See Him In Tour
Retired undefeated boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr. decided to live up to his "Money May" monicker by charging a hefty amount for his fans just to meet him.
In a report by the Mirror, Mayweather will be charging British fans up to £2,000, which amounts to more than $2800 USD, during his UK tour, which begins in February.
According to the tour's official website, the "Floyd Mayweather Jr. Victory Tour" will kick off on January 30th in Belguim. He then embarks on his tour of the United Kingdom, starting with a Feb. 1 visit to Cardiff, Wales. On Feb. 2, he will be in Bristol, England, and on February 4, he will be in London. He will then head off to Glasgow, Scotland on February 5th; Sheffield, England on February 7th; Manchester on February 11th, and Birmingham on Feb. 12. He will end his tour on February 14th, in Bedford, England.
The Mirror report adds that tickets for the first two nights in Cardiff and Bristol will cost £45 ($63 USD), but photos to be taken with Mayweather will amount to £200 ($283 USD), extra.
Ticketmaster, which will be one of the tour's ticket providers, will be charging £200 ($283 USD), £300 ($420 USD), and £500 ($700 USD) for the Glasgow, London, and Manchester shows respectively. However, photographs will cost an additional £450 ($636 USD), £600 ($849 USD), and £1,000 (more than $1,400 USD) for the respective shows.
The report also adds that a "platinum" option has been put out exclusively for the Manchester show, which will amount to £2,000 ($2,800). It includes an "extended meet and greet" session with Mayweather, which will be held at one of the hospitality suites of the Old Trafford Stadium, the famed home turf of the Manchester United football team.
TV personality Jonathan Ross will be hosting the three-hour London show, which will also include a charity auction, afterwards.
Mayweather last saw action in September 2015, where he handily defeated former world champion André Berto via a wide unanimous decision margin. He then announced his retirement from boxing after the fight, ending his 20-year career with a record of 49-0 (with 26 wins by knockout).
