'Fuller House' Season 2 Spoilers, Cast Details and Updates: Hal Sparks Cast as DJ Tanner's Ex-Beau Nelson Burkhard
Looks like sparks will fly when "Fuller House" Season 2 returns to Netflix on Dec. 9. Hal Sparks ("Queer as Folk") will be joining the Tanner family as DJ Tanner-Fuller's (Candace Cameron Bure) haughty but wealthy ex-boyfriend, Nelson Burkhard. TVLine reported that he will be running into DJ during their high school reunion, where she'll quickly discover that he hasn't changed one bit.
The role was originally filled by Jason Marsden on the original "Full House" series two decades ago, but the character was recasted for "Fuller House" Season 2 after the actor refused to revisit the role. Along with Nelson, DJ's high school frenemy Kathy Santoni will also make an appearance in the new season!
Who are Nelson Burkhard and Kathy Santoni
Fans would recall Nelson Burkhard and Kathy Santoni from the original "Full House" series. Nelson, DJ's on-off boyfriend, was insanely rich and was more in love with her than she was with him. However, when they broke up and Nelson started dating Kimmy Gibble, DJ quickly became jealous and got back together with him. When she was forced to choose between Viper (David Lipper) and him, DJ picked neither and chose to stay friends with both.
Meanwhile, Kathy Santoni was originally portrayed by Anne Marie McAvoy in the original "Full House" series. She can be both DJ's friend and enemy depending on the situation, but she is mostly known for outgrowing most of her high school peers and being the "it" girl of her batch. She was revealed to be pregnant in "Full House" Season 7, prompting DJ to promise her dad, Danny (Bob Saget), that she's yet to think about raising a family yet.
What to expect from "Fuller House" Season 2
Apart from Nelson and Kathy, "Fuller House" Season 2 will also see a lot of new characters who will enter the Tanner family's lives. First, there's Joey Gladstone (Dave Coulier) and his family, who are set to be introduced during the "Fuller House" Season 2 Thanksgiving episode. Fans will get to know Ginger Gladstone, Joey's wife, who's described as an enthusiastic, upbeat magician who shares her husband's cluelessness in parenting.
There's also good news for the sterile Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin), who will be getting a new love interest in the form of Jimmy come "Fuller House" Season 2. TVLine reported that he's a good-looking musician with just a touch on the weird side - a truly great match for the equally zany Stephanie!
