'Furious 8' Release Date, News: New 'Fast and Furious' Movie Coming in 2017, Cody Walker to Have a Role?
After the heartbreaking conclusion to "Furious 7," the seventh film of the franchise and the one reportedly dedicated to Paul Walker, an eighth film has just been confirmed.
According to a report by TV Guide, the announcement was made personally by Vin Diesel at CinemaCon in Las Vegas last month.
For Fast and Furious fans who are already excited, the exact release date is set on April 17, 2017.
During the announcement, Diesel reminisced how he and Walker announced Furious 7 in 2013.
"We were giddy and excited," said Diesel, according to Variety. "You all gave me so much confidence. There was so much love."
"Furious 7" is currently the most successful of all Fast and Furious films, staying at number one in box office for three straight weeks. Reports also mentioned that the film is on track to make more than $1.4 billion in total.
Now that an eighth film is in on the way, the report said that Paul Walker's brother, Cody, would have a new role.
Cody Walker became popular when he helped create CGI images of Paul's face all throughout "Furious 7." Cody could be cast as a random member, or even as a new member of the crew.
