Galaxy A5 2018 Release Date, Specs News: Leaks Suggest Infinity Display Among Other High-End Features
New renders of the Galaxy A5 2018 have surfaced, suggesting the smartphone will come with the same infinity display that higher-end handsets such as the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 have.
The recent leak suggests that the next Galaxy A5 model will come with an infinity display, with an 18:9:5 aspect ratio. It also appears to be without a home button. But unlike the latest Samsung flagship, the leaks imply that the mid-tier line will sport a flat display instead of a dual-edge curved display.
The leak was originally shared on Twitter by a user named slashleaks. It, however, has been deleted.
Samsung's mid-range smartphone lines, which include the Galaxy A5, A7, and A3, often sport high-end features from the flagship lines; hence, an infinity display will not be that surprising. Reports say that with the impending upgrades, tech enthusiasts should witness a price bump for the Galaxy A series.
Apart from the new design, features such as a longer battery life, and improved internal hardware are expected to manifest in the 2018 Galaxy A5. An Exynos 7885 chip, 4 GB of RAM, and at least 32 GB of internal storage, and a dual-camera set-up are among the anticipated features of the smartphone.
Although it remains unclear if the mobile will run with the Android 8.0 Oreo operating system, some expect the 2018 Galaxy A5 to be among the first Samsung smartphones to carry the OS. If this is the case, the mid-tier line will have the OS before Samsung's 2018 flagships. Other reports allege that the device could be powered by the Android 7.1.1 Nougat.
Samsung has yet to comment on the rumors. Reports should be taken with a grain of salt. The company usually unveils new Galaxy A units at the beginning of the year. If the South Korean tech giant keeps up with tradition, a new unit should be revealed early in 2018.
