The graphic novel of Martin's short story "Meathouse Man" will be available in October 2013. A graphic novel of his short story "The Hedge Knight" will be available in November 2013. His short story "The Sworn Sword" will be available in early 2014, according to The Guardian.

Amazon Publishing Vice President Jeff Belle explained why the company wanted to move into the comic genre in a statement.

"Comics and graphic novels, especially in digital format, represent a unique area for innovation,"  he said.

Belle also explained Amazon's unique approach to comic content creation.

"Our focus will be on adapting great books for this medium as a means of expanding the audience for our authors, pushing boundaries with new ideas that combine visual and narrative storytelling, and creating compelling new experiences for readers," the VP of Amazon publishing said.

The Jet City Comic editors are excited to work with famous and accomplished authors like George R.R. Martin.

"It's a dream to work with superstar authors like George, Hugh and Neal on the launch of a new imprint," Jet City Comics Senior Editor Alex Carr said in a press release.

Jet City Comics will be published on Kindle as individual comics, as serialized comics with concurrent issues and as graphic novels. But print additions of individual comics, serials, and graphic novels will be available for purchase through the Amazon website as well, according to seatlepi.com.
