'Game Of Thrones' Season 6 Spoilers: It Will Be Sansa's Best Season, says Sophie Turner
Like the rest of her family, Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) has undoubtedly had a rough time on HBO's top-rated fantasy drama series "Game of Thrones." The elder Stark daughter just couldn't seem to catch a break and her fate took a turn for the worse in Season 5, when she had to return to Winterfell and marry the sadistic Ramsay Bolton (Iwan Rheon).
But Sansa's luck is about to change - for the better - when the much-anticipated Season 6 debuts.
Turner spoke to Entertainment Weekly at EW's Screen Actors Guild party and revealed that Sansa is "finally getting that storyline that you've been craving for the past five seasons."
"You can only suffer so much before she finally gets her, the respect that she deserves," the 19-year-old actress explained.
The actress says that it's going to be a really big season for her character, maybe even the best season for her yet.
She added: "It's her really coming into her own. She, this season, really commands the respect that she deserves and she grabs hold of it and she runs with it and it's really good."
While the character seemed to receive a boost in confidence and some measure of power in Season 4, fans were outraged when, after joining Petyr Baelish (Aidan Gillen), she was depicted as a victim for most of Season 5. The scene where she was raped by Bolton, with Theon in attendance, was deemed by many as "unnecessary" and particularly angered many Sansa diehards.
Sansa was last seen escaping from Winterfell by jumping off a wall with Theon. Will the two somehow make their way to a friendly camp? How will Sansa "get the respect she deserves" and who will help her?
"It's the biggest season yet," Turner continued. "It's going to be good."
"Game of Thrones" debuts its Season 6 on April 24 on HBO.
