'Game of Thrones' Season 8 Plot Speculations, News: Fan Shares Theory on How White Walkers Control the Dead
Someone may have discovered the reason why White Walkers are able to control the dead on the massively successful HBO series "Game of Thrones."
During the course of the seventh season of "Game of Thrones," Jon Snow (Kit Harington) and the rest of his gang had discovered some vital information about White Walkers and their army of the dead. When Jon Snow and company ventured out beyond the wall to capture a wight to show to Cersei, they encountered a White Walker leading a squadron of the dead. After they had killed the White Walker, the rest of the wights it controls also died with him. Now, someone may have finally figured out why this happens.
According to Reddit user snowcappedmountain, the White Walkers have the ability to control the dead because these fictional beings are actually "wargs." The user said that they are actually "warging" into the wights and not actually raising the dead. For those who are unfamiliar with the term "warg," it refers to a person who has the ability to inhabit or control the bodies of creatures of a lesser intelligence such as animals or in this case, the dead.
"I believe that the White Walkers are basically all wargs, and that they control the army of the dead by warging into them. The WW can do a special variation of warging that living wargs cannot due to them being 'undead,'" the Reddit user said. "I think that because they are more on the dead side, it also disallows them to use their ability on living creatures (and living wargs could not go into the dead for the same reason). When a WW 'raises' the dead, they are not really resurrecting them. They are, in fact, only inhabiting their bodies," the user went on to say.
Not only that, he also went so far as to assume that the series antagonist, the Night King, is actually a greenseer himself just like Bran Stark. This could explain why the White Walkers and their undead army always seem to be at the right place and at the right time.
