'Gears of War 4' April 2017 Update: New Maps, Modes and Weapon Skins Arrive

A game is only as good as its last update, and so each title strives to innovate to keep up with player demands. In line with this, The Coalition's "Gears of War 4" is launching its April update, bringing both new and revamped details on the third-person shooter video game.

The teaser video puts the highlight on two reintroduced maps and weapon tunings. The first map is the Hotel, an abandoned luxurious building that stands on a misty cliff with its halls as the only testament to the greatness it once had. The battle within and outside the hotel differ in strategy but are seamless in terms of transition, making it a great reimagining of the map from "Gears of War 3."

The other map, which was also last seen in "Gears of War 3," is the Slab. It can be recalled as Marcus' prison and is now beefed up with more details, and the outside is even more amazing with a whirling windflare close to the prison. While it is a smaller map than the hotel, it opens a new challenge as there are two entry-points, so one will need to strategize carefully.

Both maps are classics of the franchise, and so long-time players will be at home yet will find challenge in them. Both will be made available to all players on April 11.

Weapons are also balanced and tweaked as response to player feedback. This is done to level the playing field and make a more rewarding experience for all types of gamers. More details on how the updates were made can be found on the game's official website.

While the game's Easter event is still days away, small details have also been revealed. The large Bunny Heads make a comeback as part of the "Bunny Hunt" game mode, as well as five Chocolate Easter Egg-themed weapon skins can be scoured.

More information on the Easter event will be provided as April 14 draws near.
